Payment, Health Notices & Terms of Business

Payment and Payment Types:
Please Note: Tim does not take cards. Anyone wishing to use a card for payment should choose the PayPal option and pay beforehand. See below.

There are two ways to pay:-

Option 1: Payment by Paypal.   (If paying by Paypal the session MUST be paid for 24 hours before the session.)
Option 2: Payment in Cash.   (Cash can be used to pay for in person sessions and is paid during the session itself.)

--- No other forms of payment are accepted ---

Important Health Notices:
1. Illnesses such as colds and viruses can ruin sessions. You should be well if seeing Tim.
If you are unwell you must notify Tim as soon as possible.
Illness may also endanger other people since many of Tim's clients are elderly or otherwise health compromised.
For the above reasons Tim will not work in person with any person who appears to be unwell.
Similarly Tim will notify clients if he is unwell or too ill to work.
Persons travelling from outside the UK or other long distances should always get travel insurance for this reason.

2. If you have physical pain, limited movement or a disability of some kind, then you need to notify Tim beforehand. This should be mentioned again when confirming the session by email.

3. Physical pains and significant health problems should always be properly investigated by a licensed medical practitioner. No outcome should be requested against your doctors advice. Similarly any client seeing Tim with a request to stop a compulsive behaviour or to end some kind of substance misuse should have discussed the implications with their doctor before booking a session. Booking a session is a declaration by the client that appropriate medical advice has already been sought and that the work requested by the client is in accord with any medical advice given.

4. Some people need to eat at certain times for health reasons. If this is the case then you should notify Tim beforehand and bring suitable food with you. This may be particularly applicable if the session is to be a long one.

Tim takes the safety and well being of his clients very seriously. The pandemic has affected the way everyone looks at meetings. He may offer some sessions online or by phone in order to minimise contact but only where appropriate. Some sessions however simply have to be done in person and this is advised when booking.
If working online he may split what would have been one longish in person session into two or three shorter ones at home with some client work in between. Depending upon circumstance he may sometimes suggest one as a preference over the other.

Quotations:
Only one quotation will be given and bookings must be made within 7 days.

Only one quotation will be given and bookings must be made within 7 days. Here is why:
Tim is interested in changing lives for the better and so he likes to work with people who bring a genuine certainty in their enthusiasm and commitment for positive change.

Tim's work is completely bespoke and so every quotation given is time consuming. It is is based on a very careful and time consuming assessment of each persons history, symptoms and circumstances. For this reason Tim quotes once and once only. For these reasons people who cannot make their minds are not seen. Those who request multiple quotations are not seen either. On rare occasions Tim may make an exception but any further quotes will always be higher than the first and this is in order to cover the cost of any wasted time.

Price :
Tim will always endeavour to give you high quality results in the very shortest time-scale. This is to allow you to get back to being productive yourself. The price of a session is dependent upon the nature of the problem, the exact circumstances and on the amount of work Tim anticipates in treating it successfully.

Price is quoted by Tim in advance once he knows what is being requested. In order to quote a price, Tim needs as much information as possible and ideally some prior discussion with the client. This can usually be done over the phone. If such a discussion cannot take place for any reason, (such as extremely short notice), it will be factored into the price. Likewise Tim will also quote on any applicable travel or accommodation expenses which are always payable if he has to travel.

Once quoted, the fees or price for any intervention will not vary. This is very different from other therapists who can seem to want endless sessions with no clear idea of total cost. Tim's quotation for the work means that working with Tim is not open ended in terms of either price or duration and this is highly beneficial to the client. At time of booking you know the exact costs of the intervention and Tim will also give an indication as to the chances of success in that time. Also at time of quotation, Tim will provide an estimate of session length. Actual length of a session may vary since it will be based upon Tim's professional assessment during the session as to what is required. Sometimes he may go over time. Sometimes he may be faster than expected. In either case, this does not alter the price which will remain as quoted. This means that at time of booking you will know the exact price. You will also have a good idea as to session length and Tim's professional assessment as to the likelihood of the outcome you desire. Clients wishing additional work for additional outcomes may of course request it, and under those circumstances an adjustment to price may be mutually discussed and agreed at the time.

Success:
(see also "Understanding Hypnotherapy")
Payment is for access to expertise and the hours of work in preparation also.Tim will always endeavour to provide the very best outcomes but no therapist is perfect and no therapist is successful in absolutely every instance. It is a simple reality that this is not an exact science and some variables are in the hands of the client. Tim undertakes to work with clients whom he expects will be successful. Clients can help or hinder of course. Most clients have the good sense to follow instructions completely and thereby maximise the likelihood of obtaining the desired outcome. On occasion Tim may refuse bookings with certain clients if he feels that they are not ready to be helped or would be otherwise uncooperative.
Tim is bound by a professional code of ethics and as such will ALWAYS put client interests first when determining the best course of therapy. Sometimes that may mean methods other than hypnosis. Tim will only use those techniques which his training and experience indicate will be best for his clients and he will expect cooperation. Hypnosis and the other methods used require active participation. Booking is an acceptance that hypnotic and or other psychological and therapy techniques will be used, and that such techniques and methods are subject solely to Tim's assessment as to suitability. Tim does sometimes offer guarantees but this is generally only offered to corporate clients. If such is desired it must have been requested and agreed in writing (see above). As such, should any aspect of the treatment not meet fully with expectations the total limit of liability shall not exceed session cost (See details of financial guarantee above). Where hypnosis is used it should be understood that hypnosis is a mental and also a physical process. Therapy requires commitment and full cooperation on the part of the client and every client carries a significant level of responsibility for their own outcomes. For this reason, other than any guarantee offered regarding session price, Tim will not be held liable for any losses incurred of any kind under any circumstances. Tim will always endeavour to facilitate the best possible outcomes using the techniques available to him. With this in mind, and in order to ensure that time spent working together will be most fully productive, clients should disclose all material facts BEFORE working with Tim. Clients should also clearly specify what outcomes they are looking for. This is best done in writing. Where no outcome is specified Tim will make an assessment based any discussion and also on his experience in the best interests of the client.

Client Responsibility:
As already mentioned above, therapy requires commitment and full cooperation on the part of the client. Some people are their own worst enemies ...and despite being completely unable to solve things for themselves, they rather peculiarly feel expert enough to want to dictate their own treatment, ignore instructions or constantly interrupt. Clients of this type would be wasting their time. Clients doing online sessions may be given some client homework to do between sessions and you should ensure you do this in the way instructed.
You should take part with an open mind, be ready to listen and ready to follow instructions completely. Anything else is pointless.

There may be occasions where Tim carefully advises clients on appropriate self talk or on other follow up that you should do. If this is advised then it should be undertaken.

Understanding Therapy and Hypnotherapy
Some members of the public mistakenly think that hypnotherapy is like programming a computer. It definitely isn't. No hypnotherapist on Earth can absolutely guarantee a specific outcome in every instance and here's why:-
Imagine having a mysterious electrical fault with a car and then taking that car to a garage to see if it can be fixed. A good garage will know what might typically solve such a problem. They cannot know for sure though until they have spent some time working on the vehicle itself. Investigative work is skilled and may take some time. They may find problems which might make a repair more difficult. They may also have to try various tests or repairs in order to find a solution that works. If they can, they will fix the car within the limits set by the customers budget. Sometimes that is not possible.

Hypnotherapy is much the same. An experienced therapist and hypnotherapist knows what has worked very well for them in the past. They learn this from having worked on similar things. Sometimes though, a person may surprise them. (People obviously vary even more than cars do.)

Hypnotisability can be variable too depending upon circumstance, and it can also vary from client to client. Occasionally someone may be far more challenging than expected. Some people are poor at following instructions or constantly interrupt. There is no one solution that works for absolutely everyone. Ultimately the therapist can only do their best and they are paid for their time. The more skilled they are, the more successful they are likely to be. Hypnosis may sometimes not be the most appropriate course of treatment and Tim may choose to use other methods where he feels it appropriate or if he feels it is in the best interests of a client.

It is also a fact that hypnotherapy is something of an art. Hypnotherapy can be rather like presenting a case for change to the subconscious mind. A skilled therapist presents compelling evidence for change. The subconscious looks at the evidence presented, and then (just like a jury) it makes a decision about the outcome.

Hypnotherapists use words, skill, experience, hypnosis and sometimes other tools to present the best possible case for inner change. As you can imagine, some therapists are brilliant at this and others are not. The really great hypnotherapists know exactly how to present the best possible case for change. To do this they must use hypnosis, sometimes a wide variety of other methods, knowledge, skill and experience.

The clients own subconscious mind then makes a decision based on what's been presented to it. It cannot be forced into submission and so the skilled use of therapy methods and effective persuasion is the only route. This is why, within a given time-frame the final outcome can never be absolutely 100% predicted no matter how much one would like to. This is also why the skill and experience of the hypnotherapy practitioner is paramount. Despite this Tim may sometimes offer guarantees but only to corporate clients. (See below)

Guarantee Requests:
When booked through an insurance company or through an employer's staff welfare scheme Tim will almost always be happy to accept a guarantee request as long as he does not have to travel. If you wish Tim to work in this way it MUST be requested when first asking for a price. He will ask about the problem and will make a decision based on what you have requested. If acceptable, Tim will confirm the arrangement in writing at time of booking. If not requested and also by Tim accepted in writing then no guarantee applies and normal session terms apply (payment for Tim's time, expertise and also possibly for travel where applicable and agreed in advance). Where Tim is requested to travel to the client, a guarantee request is less likely to be accepted by Tim since it might indicate a reduced level of commitment on the part of the client. If no request is made and also accepted by Tim in writing at time of booking then the session is one without guarantee.
Where a guarantee is requested and agreed, success is judged by the therapy client themselves and NOT by Tim Phizackerley.
This means that where such a guarantee request is accepted by Tim, payment is only due for an outcome judged to be beneficial and successful by the client themselves.

Reminder: Where no guarantee of success or benefit has either been requested or agreed then Tim's normal terms apply which is simply payment to cover any expenses and also for his time working on the problem (Price as quoted).

An important consideration: Guarantees can be confidence boosting from a new customer perspective. It allows someone to discover that Tim really can do what's advertised and Tim is always happy to honour them where agreed because he knows how reliable his techniques are. There is however one important aspect that you may wish to consider very carefully. A guarantee can sometimes reduce the amount of commitment to success brought to bear on the process by the therapy client themselves.
There is a world of difference between a client thinking, "I'm going to follow instructions fully to make absolutely sure I'll be successful" and "I've got nothing to lose. I may as well give it a go". Those two attitudes going in are very different. One is desirable. The other is not. (See Client Responsibility)

Bookings:
The booking of a session is confirmed by means of an email or text sent to you when the booking is made. Confirmation includes the time, location and date and is the only valid confirmation of a session so you should read it, note the details and retain. All sessions are confirmed by email or text in this way. It is important to arrive on time and at the location specified.

Bookings by Third Parties:
Where a business, agent, or similar representative books a session on behalf of a third party, they are responsible for ensuring that the therapy client is fully aware of the terms herein. Attendance by the client will be taken as confirmation that this has taken place.

Cancellation:
Tim endeavours not to ever cancel sessions but very occasionally he may have no choice. Cancellation is not something he does lightly. In this unlikely event he would always attempt to notify the client as soon as possible and he would also offer another appointment time. He will not be held responsible for any inconvenience or for any losses of any kind that may be incurred. Those travelling long distances, staying overnight, or travelling from abroad should of course ALWAYS have appropriate travel insurance in place.

Your Contact Details:
You should ensure you have sent Tim your contact details beforehand via email, text message, or online form and also to be sure that he has confirmed receipt of them. You should include a working mobile telephone number through which you can be contacted.

Miscellaneous Declarations:
1. For reasons of good sense and to be medically safe, medical problems should first be assessed by a medical practitioner. Any client currently undergoing treatment elsewhere for the presenting issue should seek their approval prior to seeing Tim. (This is an important professional courtesy and this step is the client's sole responsibility.)
For reasons of client well being, Tim should be informed as to emotional, psychological and medical conditions and any medication history. Wherever possible Tim likes to discuss things carefully with clients themselves prior to agreeing to work with them.
2. Where thought most appropriate Tim may seek to alleviate the symptoms in order to best help a client.
3. Tim can only offer personal opinion, both in person and on this website. Because his skill set is so unique his views may not always be 100% in accord with the commonly accepted scientific viewpoint.
4. The domain name britainsfastesthypnotist.com is not intended as an absolute claim but rather to indicate his methodology in seeking beneficial outcomes for clients in short timescales. Tim undertakes to be fast and efficient in his work and this is for client benefit.
5. Tim uses hypnosis or other methods to accelerate client progress and deliver the best results wherever possible. His methods frequently include the use of non-hypnotic tools if he deems that such methods or tools are appropriate. This judgement as to appropriateness of any particular method is Tim's and is based upon his professional judgement and many years of experience.
6. When dealing with a critical emergency or with certain clients whom he feels will benefit from a rapid induction of hypnosis he may undertake to induce hypnosis in just a few seconds. In other sessions or at client request he may work a little more slowly or very differently. Whatever the circumstance he will always undertake to provide the very best possible outcomes.
7. Some sessions may include a significant explanation of important concepts or procedures. This is typically done so as to remove misconceptions or barriers to success or may include an explanation of things the client can do in order to help themselves.
8. Hypnotherapy is all about real people and real experiences and to that end and after experiencing Tim's work some clients have very kindly shared their own experience of a session with Tim by means of a short video interview. Where a client agrees to such an interview it is understood and accepted that it may then be used by Tim to promote his services and also to educate others in respect of the hypnosis experience.

The First Hour Or So:
During the first hour or so of the session Tim will typically explain what happens and how things work. He will also assess how an individual responds to various suggestions.

International Clients:
International clients should note that these terms are subject to UK law and UK jurisdiction.

Acceptance:
Booking indicates an acceptance of these terms.

Disabled Access:
Tim's Barnard Castle office is wheelchair friendly.
